Heart Attack Symptoms — When to Call for Help in Cabo
Heat, altitude changes, alcohol, exertion, jet lag, dehydration — Cabo vacations stack a lot of cardiac stressors. Knowing the symptoms that mean “call now” instead of “wait and see” can be life-saving.
Classic heart attack symptoms
Chest pain or pressure (squeezing, heavy), pain or discomfort radiating to arm/jaw/back, shortness of breath, nausea/sweating, sudden anxiety or “sense of doom.”
Atypical presentations (especially women, diabetics, seniors)
Fatigue, indigestion-like discomfort, mild back or jaw pain without chest pain, just feeling “wrong.” These get missed more often.
What is NOT a heart attack but feels like one
Severe heartburn, anxiety/panic attack, muscle strain from activity, severe dehydration with palpitations. Not always easy to tell — when in doubt, call.

FAQ
Will I make it to the hospital in time?
Cabo hospital cardiac catheterization protocols match international standards. Time-to-treatment depends on calling early.
Should I take aspirin?
If you have no allergy and no medical contraindication, chewing a regular aspirin can help. Tell the responders you took it.
What if it turns out not to be a heart attack?
Better to find out at the hospital than at home in regret. Most chest-pain ER visits aren’t heart attacks; the workup is what determines that.
Will insurance cover a ‘false alarm’?
Yes — medically necessary chest pain evaluation is covered by quality travel-insurance plans.
What about young travelers?
Heart attacks at any age. Don’t dismiss symptoms because of youth.
