CT Scan Cost in Cabo — What Tourists Actually Pay in 2026

CT scans are the most common advanced imaging tourists need in Cabo — head CT after a fall, abdominal CT for severe pain, chest CT for pulmonary embolism workup. Here’s what they cost.

Standard CT cost ranges

Single-region CT (head, chest, abdomen alone) at a private hospital in Cabo typically runs US $400-$900 without contrast, $600-$1,200 with contrast.

Multi-region or specialized CT

Head + cervical spine + chest + abdomen (trauma protocol): US $1,500-$3,000. Cardiac CT angiography: $1,500-$3,000.

With our coordination

Add the clinic doctor visit and English interpretation. Insurance pre-authorization for non-emergency CT helps.

Insurance coverage

Quality travel-insurance plans cover medically necessary CT. We document medical necessity for your claim.

FAQ

Why is CT more expensive than X-ray?

More expensive equipment, contrast dye, radiologist read time, ICU monitoring sometimes required.

Is contrast safe for me?

Most patients tolerate; small allergic risk. Renal function checked before contrast in older patients or those with kidney issues.

How long does the scan take?

5-15 minutes typically. Longer for complex protocols.

Can I refuse CT and request MRI instead?

MRI is different (no radiation) but better for some indications, worse for others. Doctor recommendation matters.

Insurance pre-authorization required?

For non-emergency CT, sometimes. Emergency CT in the ER usually authorized after-the-fact.
