How a Video Doctor Visit Works — 4 Steps, 15 Minutes, $59

Quick answer: A Cabo Walk-In Clinic video doctor visit takes four steps and about 15 minutes total. Step 1 — Book: pick your concern, choose English or Spanish, pay $59. Step 2 — Connect: a bilingual COFEPRIS-licensed physician joins you on a secure video call within 15 minutes, 24/7. Step 3 — Evaluation and care plan: the doctor evaluates your symptoms, discusses options, and provides a written care plan delivered to your patient portal. Step 4 — Prescription delivery: when clinically appropriate, the doctor issues a Mexican prescription (Receta Médica) that arrives at your hotel via CMC Pharmacy Cabo (60-minute delivery in Cabo San Lucas) or via licensed mail-order to your US address.

TL;DR — The visit in 4 steps

Step What happens How long
1. Book Pick concern, choose language, pay $59 60 seconds
2. Connect Secure video call with bilingual MD ≤ 15 min wait
3. Evaluation + care plan Doctor evaluates, discusses options, writes plan 15 minutes
4. Prescription delivery Mexican Rx via CMC Pharmacy or mail-order 60 min in Cabo, 3–7 days to US

Step 1 — Book your visit (60 seconds)

Open our booking page on your phone or laptop. You don’t need to install an app — the video visit runs in any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox).

The booking flow asks you four short questions:

What’s going on? Pick from a list of common concerns — UTI evaluation, sinus infection, cold or flu symptoms, doctor’s note for work or school, prescription refill, travel medicine, women’s or men’s health, skin concern, GLP-1 / weight loss evaluation, mental health evaluation. Or describe your situation in your own words (a 1-3 sentence free-text box).

English or Spanish? Choose the language you’d prefer for the visit. Our doctors are native bilingual — you’ll get the same clinical quality either way.

A few quick basics. First name, last name, date of birth, country, phone number for the secure video link, email for receipts and prescriptions.

Payment. $59 USD via credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, HSA card, or FSA card. The charge happens immediately and an itemized receipt arrives in your inbox within 60 seconds.

Once you tap “Confirm,” you’ll see your estimated wait time on the screen (usually under 5 minutes) and receive a secure video link by SMS and email. Keep your phone with you — most patients are connected to a doctor within 8 minutes of booking.

Step 2 — Connect with your bilingual COFEPRIS-licensed doctor (15-min promise)

When a physician is ready, you’ll get a text saying “Your doctor is ready” with a one-tap link to join the video call.

Before the call begins, the system shows you the doctor’s full profile: name, photo, board specialty, languages spoken, years of experience, and Cédula Profesional (COFEPRIS license number). This is the same level of credential verification you’d see in person at a US doctor’s office — except faster and easier to confirm.

The call opens with a 30-second technical check: camera, microphone, audio, lighting. The platform is encrypted end-to-end and runs in your browser — no app install required. If you’re somewhere with bad Wi-Fi, you can switch to audio-only and the doctor will still complete the evaluation.

Our 15-minute promise: if a doctor is not on video with you within 15 minutes of booking, the visit is automatically refunded — full $59 back on your card, no email required, no form to fill out. We track this on every visit and publish our monthly average wait time. (In May 2026, our average wait was 6 minutes 47 seconds.)

If you booked for a specific scheduled time (vs. “see me now”), the doctor will join you exactly at that time.

Step 3 — Evaluation, discussion, and written care plan (15 minutes)

The video visit itself is structured to feel like a calm, unhurried in-person appointment — just over a screen.

The doctor will start by asking what brought you in today, when symptoms started, how they’ve changed, and what you’ve already tried. For a UTI, that’s roughly: “When did the burning start? How often are you urinating? Any fever? Any blood?” For a sinus infection: “Day count? Color of mucus? Facial pressure? Any prior sinus history?” For a doctor’s note: “What dates and what’s the underlying reason?”

Where helpful, the doctor will ask you to show something on camera — a rash, a swollen joint, the inside of your throat with a flashlight. This is what telemedicine excels at: a clinically trained eye on the specific thing you’re worried about, without you having to drive anywhere.

The doctor will then evaluate your symptoms and discuss treatment options with you. This is collaborative — not “we’ll diagnose you and prescribe.” Some scenarios:

For an uncomplicated UTI in an adult patient with classic symptoms: the doctor explains that a Mexican prescription for first-line antibiotic (commonly nitrofurantoin or fosfomycin) is clinically appropriate, discusses dosage and side effects, and asks about allergies.

For a viral sinus infection: the doctor explains why antibiotics aren’t indicated for the first 10 days, prescribes symptomatic care (decongestant, saline rinse, NSAID), and provides red-flag criteria for when to come back.

For GLP-1 evaluation: the doctor reviews your medical history, current medications, BMI, and clinical picture. GLP-1 medications are authorized in Mexico for Type 2 diabetes treatment. If clinical criteria are met, the doctor can issue a Mexican prescription. Off-label use for weight loss is a decision between you and your physician, made together during the visit.

For a doctor’s note: the doctor confirms the dates and reason, and asks you to confirm the wording of the note before issuing it.

After the call ends, the written care plan lands in your patient portal within 5 minutes: the doctor’s assessment, recommendations, prescriptions (with dosing and instructions), follow-up plan, and “go to the ER immediately if…” red-flag list.

Step 4 — Prescription delivery via CMC Pharmacy or mail-order

When a prescription is clinically appropriate, the doctor issues a Mexican Receta Médica signed digitally with their Cédula Profesional. The Rx is delivered to your secure patient portal as a PDF and forwarded to the pharmacy of your choice. You have three options:

Option A — CMC Pharmacy Cabo, 60-minute delivery (best if you’re in Cabo)

If you’re in Cabo San Lucas — hotel, villa, AirBnB, on the beach — CMC Pharmacy Cabo is our pharmacy partner and delivers most prescriptions to your location within 60 minutes. You pay the pharmacy directly for the medication (no markup from us). Cash USD or MXN, credit card, or HSA / FSA. Delivery itself is free for Cabo Care+ members and $5 for everyone else.

Option B — Licensed mail-order to your US address

If you’re in the US, your Mexican Rx can be filled via licensed mail-order from a Mexican pharmacy directly to your US address. Under the FDA personal-use rule, individuals may import up to a 90-day supply of non-controlled medication for personal use. Shipping is typically 3-7 business days. Customs occasionally inspects packages (estimated ~1% rate); the personal-use exemption applies and most packages clear without issue. The pharmacy will provide tracking and you pay them directly.

Option C — Try a US compounding pharmacy that fills foreign Rx

A small number of US compounding pharmacies will fill foreign prescriptions, depending on the medication and your state. We provide the Mexican Rx; you contact a local pharmacy to ask if they’ll fill it. This option is not guaranteed and varies by state and medication.

Important honesty: US chain pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid) generally will not fill a Mexican prescription. If you need your medication filled at a US chain pharmacy, you’ll need a prescription from a US-licensed clinician — we can recommend in-person care options where appropriate.

What to have ready before your visit

You don’t need to prepare much, but a few things make the visit faster:

What to expect after the visit ends

Within 5 minutes: care plan PDF arrives in your patient portal and email. If you requested a doctor’s note, it arrives as a separately signed PDF.

Within 15 minutes: any prescriptions are routed to your chosen pharmacy. You’ll get an SMS confirming receipt.

Within 24 hours: an optional 1-question follow-up text — “Did the care plan help? Yes / No / I have a question.” This is how we track outcomes; replies go to a real human on the medical team.

Within 72 hours: if you’re not happy with how the visit went, request a refund — full $59 back, no questions asked.

Within 30 days: optional invitation to leave a review on Trustpilot (we don’t pay for reviews, ever).

Frequently asked questions about the visit process

Do I need to install an app?

No. The video visit runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox. We test against the latest two versions of each. iPhone and Android both work natively.

What if I have a bad Wi-Fi connection?

The platform automatically degrades to lower video quality, and you can switch to audio-only at any time. Most evaluations can be completed audio-only. If we can’t complete the visit due to technical problems on our end, it’s refunded.

Can I bring a family member or interpreter on the call?

Yes. Tell us at booking. Family members are welcome on the call, especially for pediatric visits or when patients prefer a witness. We don’t need separate interpretation — the doctor will speak whichever language you prefer.

What happens if the doctor recommends in-person care?

The doctor will document the recommendation in your care plan and automatically refund your $59 if the recommendation is “you need in-person evaluation today and I cannot help further by video.” If you’re in Cabo, our walk-in clinic offers same-day in-person evaluation. If you’re in the US, the doctor will recommend the appropriate level of care (urgent care, ER, or PCP follow-up).

Can you prescribe over-the-counter medications?

We don’t write prescriptions for OTC medications because you don’t need one. We will recommend specific OTC options in the care plan — brand name, dose, frequency — so you can buy them at any pharmacy.

How does the prescription actually reach me if I’m in the US?

Three options: CMC Pharmacy Cabo via mail-order, a licensed Mexican mail-order pharmacy of your choice, or a US compounding pharmacy that fills foreign Rx (state-dependent). We provide the prescription PDF; you choose the fulfillment route.

Will my US pharmacy accept a Mexican prescription?

US chain pharmacies generally will not fill a Mexican prescription. A small number of US compounding pharmacies do, depending on the medication and state. The reliable route for US-based patients is licensed Mexican mail-order under the FDA personal-use rule.

Is the call recorded?

We do not record video visits by default. The written care plan is documented in your medical record. If you would like a recording for your own records, you can request one — it requires explicit consent at the start of the call.

What if I need a refill of the same medication later?

Cabo Care+ members can request follow-up refills via secure messaging — no second visit required for established medications. Non-members book a second $59 visit to discuss continuation.

Can my kid see a doctor by video?

Yes, for children age 2 and above with a parent present. Pediatric video visits are the same $59 price. The doctor will ask the parent to hold up the child’s ID or birth certificate alongside the parent’s ID at the start of the call.
