Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) — most common
Sweating, shakiness, confusion, dizziness, fast heartbeat, hunger, slurred speech. Treat immediately: 15g fast carbs (glucose tabs, juice, soda — NOT diet). Re-check in 15 minutes. If unconscious or seizing — emergency.
Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar)
Frequent urination, thirst, fatigue, blurred vision. Severe hyperglycemia or DKA: nausea/vomiting, fruity breath, deep rapid breathing, abdominal pain, confusion. Severe hyper is a medical emergency.
